Show Corruption Its Way Out

Posted: 14th January 2012 by dele in Government, Politics

My name is Dele Odufuye. I am a Nigerian. I represent Nigeria.

We have been saying it for years and years, that “let the rubbish (corruption) continue, there will be a time when we (Nigerians) won’t be able to take it anymore, then there will be a revolution”. Well, the problem is that, we have been saying it and we have done nothing about it?

Something will trigger the revolution. Something. It doesn’t matter the size of it. And now, fuel subsidy removal sparked something inside of us. Is fuel subsidy the tipping point? Is this the revolution we have been waiting for? Or is the chance for a revolution about to pass us by? Or we deliberately want to postpone the revolution? Possibly to another generation? What exactly  are we doing towards a revolution we have so desired?

A revolution that will touch our lives and turn it around for good. Like N1 = $1. LOL? Isn’t that one of the reasons God gave us OIL? Isn’t that why the international community want to weaken our currency by painting us very bad?  So why LOL when I said N1 = $1?

Anyway, It doesn’t come easy, you know? It requires marching against a force that seems stronger than us. The police? The Navy? The Nigerian army? The hoodlums? Or the corrupt politicians that fuel them? The international media? They are all weak compared to the STRONG WILL of a young Nigeria for a change in his/her life for the better.

If the revolution is in the future. I say yes, the future is now.

WHO ARE WE FIGHTING AGAINST
Remember I said the fuel subsidy removal today is just a tipping point, so I won’t focus on it at all, let others debate that. What we cannot debate is this fight against corruption. It’s just unfortunate for President GEJ that this whole thing is coming during his time. But he should see it as an opportunity to join us and kick against corruption OPENLY as he has not done anything in that direction for over 1year and 7months. So he shouldn’t be surprised his personality was attacked during the protest. It’s up to him but as for us, we are against CORRUPTION and his associates (anyone perpetrating it).

We will oppose corruption until it is out of our system and our labelling.

WE ALL HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR CORRUPTION
We all pay for it. Whether you are in Nigeria or abroad. We all do. We face all different kind of issues because our country is labelled as a CORRUPT NATION, which in itself is a fallacy of generalization.

I am sure by the time you put together how much we lose individually or collectively due to this labelling; it will be more than N1.4trillion. A lot of business opportunities have been lost because nobody wants to do business with us. A lot things we buy at a higher exchange rate because of this same corruption. A lot of product lost due to bad roads, bad healthcare and power issues. A lot of lives are lost along the line every year. All these in one nation and you think your N1.4tr can save us? Think again.

WE NEED TO END THIS
Yes, we need to. And as it starts from the top down, we must all continue to resound the truth that NIGERIA IS A GREAT NATION AND WE ARE NOT CORRUPT.

They that label us as corrupt, that will not honour nor respect us, will be seeing through the pages of the newspapers, TV and internet that WE HAVE RISEN AGAINST CORRUPTION. And they will take us serious.

Imagine if one generation in South Africa did not stand up to fight apathy, they will still be suffering from it today. But we all are running to SA today, because some people stood up for the REVOLUTION.

Search for “image of fight against corruption” on google, and on the image tab, you will see that every image is a result from India. No wonder they are better off today.

WHAT TO DO NOW
I think we are about to miss the opportunity to change our country’s reputation for our own good by letting the tipping point (fuel subsidy) fade away. By not selling our future, our chance for a better Nigeria for N76 (N141 – N65) saved per litre.

LET US OCCUPY WITH WISDOM AND DEMAND FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE.

CUT GOVERNMENT WASTEFUL SPENDINGS

BUILD OUR REFINERIES

BRING CORRUPT POLITICIANS TO BOOKS

PROVIDE MORE JOBS

LET US BE A MANUFACTURING NATION. WE CAN SELL OTHER THINGS AND NOT OIL ALONE.

MAKE SERVICOM AND EFCC EFFICIENT

SO MANY DEMANDS BUT I KNOW THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS THE RIGHT THING, THEY DON’T NEED TO BE TOLD AND THAT IS CALLED GOOD GOVERNANCE (Click here to read full People’s Charter)

NB: This video inspired me. Its shows how we are against CORRUPTION, INJUSTICE, INSECURITY etc and we embrace UNI. THE FUTURE IS NOW. THE DESTINY OF NIGERIA IS IN OUR HANDS.

WE ARE THE TURNING POINT OF OUR NATION

I got this mail earlier today and I wanna share it:

We (Nigerians) have never seen this type of revolt. We must not allow the momentum to die. We must at the end of it all get The Government to sign what is being tagged The people’s Charter – see below. Please pass round. This might be the beginning of a revolution.
OUR  CHARTER
1. THERE MUST BE IN PLACE A LAW THAT MAKES STEALING PUBLIC FUNDS AN OFFENSE  PUNISHABLE    WITH PUBLIC EXECUTION.
2. THE IMMUNITY CLAUSE MUST GO BOTH AT THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVELS .
3. THE PRESIDENT MUST SELL OFF ALL THE AIR CRAFTS IN THE PRESIDENTIAL FLEET.     (  The Prime Minister of Britain a much bigger economy does not have one and travels with British Airways . )

4. THE PRESIDENT’S SALARY AND ALLOWANCES MUST NOT EXCEED $200,000.     ( Our President has no reason , what so ever , to earn more than the American President. )
5. THE PRESIDENTIAL VILLA MUST BE SOLD OUT AND BE REPLACED WITH NO MORE THAN A 6-BEDROOM    HOUSE.   ( The British Prime Minister lives in a 3-bedroom apartment .)

Please read, understand and share! We expect to share to more than 10 million people

In the oil rich country, with Africa’s richest business man, Giant of Africa o, we still need Bill Gates of Microsoft to kick malaria for us and Google’s Larry Page to kick polio for us?

Where are the Tinubus, Otedolas, Dangotes, Babangidas, Obasanjos, Atikus, Dantatas etc. They want to carry this money they have impoverished Nigerian with to the grave?

From employee to an employer (The CEO)

Posted: 17th October 2011 by dele in Business, Corporate

Really? Is it the right step for me now? Am I ready? Is it not too late for me? Will it work out? What if I don’t make money? Am I in the right business? Shouldn’t I just start as part-time? Should I trust this business plan? Who will invest in this kind of idea? What will my boss think?

These and many more are what comes to mind when you are getting an urge to start a business while your are still employed somewhere else. But the most important thing is to “Get it right”.

I have in recent years played an advisory role to friends who would like to know if its time for them to pull out to be “The CEO” of their own company or not. Most of these people are like you, they have even registered the company with the Corporate Affairs Commission. Some even have well developed business plans, powerful MS PowerPoints, loads of documents, PDFs, saved webpages and bookmarks, but no clear picture of what will happen next. At the end of the day, some pulled out, some where pulled out and some are still at this same crossroads.

But I will like to ask, is it everyone that is meant to be an entrepreneur? Is it everyone that can develop the required skills to be a successful one at that? So, think about it, are you really an entrepreneur? Ask yourself this question before leaving that your salaried job.

You will definitely be faced with the decision of starting full-time or starting part-time. This is usually after you’ve made up your mind on the business you want to pull out to start, that is, after you are sure you have the:

  • Risk Tolerance,
  • Entrepreneurial Instinct on that business (very high sensitivity and attention towards everything that points in the direction of that business),
  • Brains (not academic qualifications, howbeit great) and
  • Startup Cash (your initial capital to maintain cash flow for the first one year or thereabout).

Here is what I culled from SME Toolkit to shine more light on this subject matter. http://bit.ly/qBhMaj

Decide whether to start full-time or moonlight:

There are some interesting advantages and some pitfalls in starting as a moonlight business. (That is, a business you start in your off hours while still working at your current job.) More often than not, the advantages of starting your business as a moonlighter outweigh the risks:

  • You avoid burning your bridges of earnings, including retirement, health and fringe benefits and vacations.
  • Your full-time job won’t suffer if you maintain certain conflict of interest disciplines, including compartmentalizing your job and business into completely separate worlds.
  • You can avoid conflict of interest with your job by choosing a business that is appropriate for moonlighting, such as: single products, real estate, specialized food, e-commerce, direct marketing or family-run operations.
  • There are great advantages for operating a family business. The family can run the business while you are at work. You have a built-in organizational structure. You can teach your kids the benefits of being in business.

But there are also some pitfalls to consider in starting a moonlight business:

    • There is a temptation to spend time at your job working on your moonlight business. That is unfair to your employer and should not be done under any circumstances. (You may need a family member or some trusted person to cover emergencies when you are at your job.)
    • Another problem may be competing with your employer, which, again, is not right. Think of how you would feel or handle this employee if you were the boss.
    • Any kind of conflict with your regular work can jeopardize your job and your moonlight business.
    • Overwork and mental and physical exhaustion can also become a very real problem for moonlight entrepreneurs.

In my own opinion, as I have adviced some, that it depends on the business you want to do. I have adviced some to pull out completely and some to operate part-time. But I always stress this, “do not let it conflict with the interest of your current employer”. In that it is difficult to avoid conflict of interest especially in time shared and committment to work, it is best to do that which your heart wants to do – PULL OUT or STAY IN.

Wall or Timeline?

Hiya guys,

I have a bit of not-so-good news for you guys, (sad face), on a day that is supposed to be a happy day (Happy Independence Day, abi), facebook is going to dish us with a new facebook look (Facebook Timeline). This look is practically taking away the word “wall” and giving us “timeline”.

The idea of you writing on my wall (like a prank) is already getting stale for Mark. So he thinks, we don’t want to do that, what we want to do is show people our timeline since we were born.

The layout is designed that if you visit a friends wall, you can click on months or years till the “born date”. How can that be? Where was Facebook when I was born? And am I that attention hungry to want to show people my whole life. (You will notice this on the top right of the new Facebook timeline).

Ok, I agree with you, it cannot possibly show people my whole life, except I decide to show people my own life, and that sounds convenient.

Anyways, this is the time Facebook mobile will make sense. A lot of people haven’t used the newly introduced features, esp, Subscription button and the cumbersome way to tag, to define privacy and check-in. Now, a total revamp of the site.

Let me also tell you, unlike the current Facebook wall, the Facebook timeline is going to mess with you eyes, possibly daze you. Because to follow me on my profile page, your eyes have to swing from left to right to left to right then down the left and down and down to right to left to right then down then it automatically opens more for you on my life then you swing from left to right then down, the left again then down and down and down till the day I was born (I just did a loud Pinky laugh and said “Are you pondering what I am pondering?).

Now I tell you, to CHOICE your CHOOSE (no typo).

Someone said:

I feel sorry for people that have to tell everyone every little thing about their lives, or what they are doing every minute. Ridiculous.

Another said:

Looks like Zuck’s trying to push people into whatever Google’s going to come up with.

But I like:

If its not broken, why fix it. Because this isn’t like an improvement.

I laughed at this:

wondering if 666 can come out of MZ’s name!

Someone concerned said:

It isn’t user friendly AT ALL. I have a LOT of elderly relatives who had a hard time with the old format. Now this???? We’re gonna have to go back to phone calls or use Skype to keep in touch. This will not work for Senior Citizens AT ALL. Which, BTW is a very large % of the population.

Finally, my mind reads the same as this guy’s?

great zuck, now how the heck do i turn it off?
